"Explosive rage melting into tenderness, and raw violence defanged into gentleness; these have always been trademarks of Montreal choreographer´s Édouard Lock´s dance company, La La La Human Steps." (Variety, New York)

La La La Human Steps is one of the best and most internationally well- known contemporary dance groups. The founder and composer of the entire choreography production is the Canadian choreographer of Moroccan origin Édouard Lock. Since it was established in 1980, La La La Human Steps has gained a reputation as an ensemble for its performances based on wild, explosive dance, which push the boundaries of physical exertion to the edge of extreme risk and, at the same time, virtuosity. The focal point of the choreography is movement, in the most actual sense of the word - impassioned, dizzily fast, savage, raw - making use of all, including the seemingly unexecutable, possibilities of the human body.

"Risk creates passion because it sparks hope." (Édouard Lock)

The impression of the choreography is heightened by the use of other artistic devices - lighting effects, original music, film and video - giving the audience the feeling of an illusive distorted sensation.

"You are left speechless, enthralled, frightened and amused. La La La Human Steps is taking dance to new summits. A document for our times." (Münchner Merkur, Munich)

With their innovative approach, Édouard Lock and La La La Human Steps, have shifted the borders of how we perceive contemporary dance. Each premiere performance by this remarkable dance ensemble becomes a huge cultural event. Currently, La La La Human Steps and Édouard Lock are preparing a new performance, in which they continue in the exploration of human movement based on speed, extreme and applied toe dance techniques.

Following the world premiere performance in Prague, the dance ensemble will go on tour throughout Europe, Asia, South America and Canada until the end of 2004. The performance has been developed in co-production with the LG Arts Center (Seoul), Théâtre de la Ville (Paris), Internationale Tanzwochen Wien (Vienna), the National Arts Centre (Ottawa), Het Muziektheater (Amsterdam), deSingel (Antwerp), the Leonard De Vinci / Opera de Rouen (Rouen) and Montreal Highlights Festival (Montreal).
