An ironic view to the American dream. The common man Bob in captivity of psychos and consume barely finds memories and fragment of his thoughts. Music of Paul Dresher is composed of many layers and leans again toward a unique channel electric system. The first part of Slow Fire was created in 1985 for the festival New Music America and was then presented at the Minnesota Opera and New York Philharmony. The second part was created for the American Music Theatre Festival in Philadelphia the following year. In its completed version, Slow Fire premiered in the Theatre Artaud in San Francisco in 1988.

"Eckert is a loner-eccentric, with touches of Bertolt Brecht, Samuel Beckett and Tom Waits."
