Žlutá ponorka 1996 (Yellow Submarine 1996)

Award of the Private Critical Survey with the accompaniment of three concerts.
April 10, 1997

Václav Koubek
Pavel Fajt & Pluto
Jan P. Muchow

The annual musical award, Yellow Submarine, is a private award: it was created just for fun. And for this reason, as well as for the pleasure and also the purpose to reveal inconspicuously, like the undignified Slavík and Czech Grammy awards, there still is not the public inquiry of the musical critic...
So the private critical association Periskop met at the beginning of 1997, and now clearly consists of five members. Ivan Hartman belongs to Lidové noviny, Jana Ježková (recently Válková) broadcasts at Radio 1 and writes for the musical magazine of Stereo & Video Volume, Pavel Klusák is home nowhere and everywhere (a.o. Respekt, Revue Prostor, LN, MFD), Karel Prokeš organizes the ValMez festival Valašský špalíček and Vladimír Vlasák is editor of Mladá fronta Dnes.
In a more narrow circle, this group and musicians gradually fell out: Deep Sweden, DG 307, Lesík Hajdovský, Trio Burian - Janče - Jeřábek, Petr Váša, Petr Soukup. In the end, the private organisation of Periskop decided to give the Yellow Submarine Awards for 1996 to:

          - VÁCLAV KOUBEK for the album Bezvětří (Without a Wind)
          - PLUTO for the album Pavel Fajt & Pluto
          - TORNÁDO LUE group for album Vlky (Wolves)

... Apart from any monstrous ceremony, it is possible to expect a great concert above anything else during the evening in the Archa. Tornádo Lue is excused, because it doesn't exist anymore, but even so, it will be a special three-part concert: however, the audience does exist, an audience who is able to absorb Koubek's leathers, as well as the smell of streets and pastures. And Fajt´s pop for the planet Pluto and underneath it's electronic trips of Jan P. Muchow and his friends.
But it can be shown that today's musicians have more in common than what is seen at first glance...
