Žlutá ponorka 2001 (Yellow Submarine 2001)

Now, for the fifth time, Periskop, the Free Association of Musical Critics, has once again assembled to vote and decide who will receive their private annual award given to the exceptional musical events which have occurred over the past year. The results will be reflected through a series of concerts in which each is an original, authentic project, prepared specifically for the occasion of the Žlutá ponorka 2001.

Petr Váša & Ty syčáci (The Rowdy Ones)
The founder of the legendary group Z kopce (From the Hill), Petr Váša, circumscribed a monumental arch in the Nineties´. He has given into playing with his rock band like a physical poet who is able to find links between rock stars, performers and narrators. He has survived the transformation of language, as if after time, he has discovered the word and vernacular. The electrifying trio Ty syčáci (The Rowdy Ones) is a surprise return to yet another stream: In Archa, they will come on stage with the debut of their second concert programme. The evening will be filled with film portraits of Váši - the physical muse Cirkus-chaos-minaret.

The Öggg Speci
al Project
The contemporary music of the post-rock generation: home studio electronics, self-sufficiency and independence without the more outstanding necessities of live presentation. The Öggg creation have presented themselves in the past in the Future Sound of Prague compilation and in BeatCase, but also as authors of other remixes (Ohm Square, Ivan Král). In Žlutá ponorka 2001, they will represent those sequences whose drum´n´bass, trip hop, down tempo and even electro want to consider other safe, tried-and-rue creators. The creators of Ganjalood prepare an original visualisation of Öggg´s music for this unique performance.

Vladimír Merta and Friends
The fifth Muž, který prochází zdí (The Man Who Walks through Walls), is the recipient of the Ponorká prize for the deepest advancement in the entire domestic musical scene. The incomparable poetic voice of the songwriters of the Sixties, the author of the censored, unreleased and even outrageous co-performer of Gypsy and Jewish musicians, one who makes excursions in to still newer styles and historical epochs of music. This time he returns to his own basic songs, and still performs them as a premiere: with Jaroslav Kořán, the Forgotten Orchestra of the Land of Dreamers, and other surprising guests.

Táborská Cesta: Sabot, Waawe, Deverova chyba
In recent years, the music and artistic stage from Tábor has become one of the elemental cores of contemporary creations in the Czech Republic.
