Programme of the Archa Theatre for January 2000





Petr Nikl: Hnízda her (Nests of Games)
From January 12 until February 20, 2000, the Rudolfinum Gallery and the Archa Theatre will present the artistic project of Petr Nikl and friends. The out-standing Prague gallery has become a playground - something new will happen everyday. The exhibition is in perpetual transformation and each evening at 6:00 p.m., the artists will create a small performance. The exhibition is open from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily, except Monday.

Praha mizerná (Wretched Prague)
An evening dedicated to the suburbs of Prague.
The premiere of the new documentary film cycle, produced by Czech Television and Negativ comp. The evening will also include performances by the musical groups Kormani and OOZ Orchestra.

Blindman Quartet
Polyphonic Variations
One of the most superb European saxophone quartets in a unique programme which connects three-hundred year old music with compositions from the end of the 20th century. In this programme, selections from John Cage, Louis Andriessen, Eric Sleichim, and Steve Reich in addition to Johann Sebastian Bach.

Proklatec / The Damned
Soirée with the songs of Jiří Bulis. An evening which is dedicated to the memory of the vanished café "KOLBABA", and to the musical composer visited it day after day. Directed by Arnošt Goldflam and company. The first time in the Archa Theatre!

The stiff bumble-bee (J. Dušek) pollinates the meadow saffron (P. Lašéz) touched by the lighting of V. Zborník. An improvisational performance that everyone can understand in his own way.

The King of Fools, Folial, teaches how to survive, how to defy cruelty, and how to obtain power in a time that otherwise appears hopeless. Prague premiere.

The Films of Stan Brakhage (I) and Czech experimental film
The evening is comprised of the screening of film copies brought from abroad (S. Brakhage) especially for this occasion, and the films "ADAM KADMON" (by Martin Čihák, Jan Daňhel and Kryštof Mařatka), "COPYRIGHT KREN" (by Martin Blažíček), as well as the reading of the new issue from the film revue magazine, Iluminace, - the new issue is dedicated to experimental film.
