Tender buttons
A raw musical gala spectacle about things both seen and unseen
The main character of the performance is the sightless singer and pianist Kateryna Kolcová, whose personal statements are confronted with the poetry of the Gertrude Stein, the mother of the American artistic avant-garde. The performance arises out of the texts of both authors, like circus acts. B-grade, kitsch and tawdry erotica are mixed in with a tragic desire for love. With: Kateryna Kolcová, Petra Cikánová, Jakub Žáček, Jaroslav Kořán and Agnes Kutas. Stage design: David Cajthaml. Dramaturgy: Nina Rutová. Conception and directed by: Jana Svobodová.

June 12 and 13, 8 p.m.
Dans Kias - Saskia Hölbling (Austria)
Other Feature
How to orientate the attention of the onlooker to the body as it is? How to define it as accurately and completely as possible? While looking for answers to these questions, the young Austrian choreographer became inspired by the body portraits of Lautret Goldring. With the dancers from her group, she defines the body, its nakedness and different physical contexts. The observer becomes a witness to transformations revealing the common and unique sense of the human body. "Other Feature", the most recent project of Saskia Hölbling, premiered in April 2002 in Vienna. A part of Tanec Praha 2002 Festival.

June 15 and 16, 8 p.m.
Susanne Linke (Germany)
Über Kreuz
Susanne Linke - a legend of German dance theatre, one of Mary Wigman's last students, influenced by Kurt Joos, generationaly close to Pina Bausch - reconstructs her dance biography together with the dancer Reinhilda Hoffmann in the duet "Über Kreuz", which is a picture of their lives and artistic concepts. Each of them "talks" in her own characteristic style, but its exclusiveness is relativized by a simultaneous projection of movement as entered in Laban's notation, which seems to have incorporated their movements already long ago. A part of Tanec Praha 2002 Festival.

Stadttheater Bern Ballet (Switzerland) - J. Kylián, P. Saire, F. Duméril
Felix Duméril has been leading the ballet ensemble since 1999. His conception offers a wide palette of dance styles and scenographic approaches. This openness and dramaturgic pluralism attracts choreographer stars to the Bern Ballet each season, while also providing opportunities for young talents, including the members of the ensemble. The result is a heterogeneous and - for the audience - attractive repertoire, while at the same time developing the interpretive potential of a dance group that belongs to the top of European dance scene. In Prague they will perform the choreographic works: "Stoolgame" - by Jiří Kylián, "Les Météorites" - by Philippe Saire and "Well Kept Water Gardens" - by Felix Duméril. A part of Tanec Praha 2002 Festival.
